Often passion is thought of as love between two people.  And yet it can easily be an interest…you can be a passionate gardener, or a passionate sports-person…
What the word passion always includes though is emotion.  Perhaps an obsession.  Being unable to stop talking about whatever your passion is.  It stirs the heart. It IS that sense of your emotions, your heart, being set on fire.
It becomes our obsession, in a good way.

Philippians 1.20-21
My deep desire and hope is that I shall never fail in my duty, but that at all times, and especially right now, I shall be full of courage, so that with my whole being I shall bring honor to Christ, whether I live or die. 21 For what is life? To me, it is Christ. Death, then, will bring more.

Galatians 6:14
As for me, however, I will boast only about the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ; for by means of his cross the world is dead to me, and I am dead to the world.

Luke 14.26
[Jesus said] “Those who come to me cannot be my disciples unless they love me more than they love father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, and themselves as well. 27 Those who do not carry their own cross and come after me cannot be my disciples.

Our passion is for Jesus. Our passion is his passion, which is God’s mission.
