 A Giant Disaster

    A children’s story with a twist, for 6 to 8 year olds.

It started with things going missing from the castle. Geoff was pretty sure it was the mice. Which was odd, because they were stealing the strangest bits and pieces. But mice were soon to be the least of his worries.

“This book is funny and cool – Logan, 8 years old.

‘A Giant Disaster ‘ is full of slapstick, very silly humour and tense action, this is a familiar story told from the other side. Well… there are two sides to every story!

“Fantastic book, bought for my 6yr old daughter for Christmas. I just know she will love it! Something she will treasure.”

“This is a fabulous book, you must buy for Christmas. Brilliant characterisation, great story and the illustrations are beyond amazing. I bought it for my daughter-in-law who is a teacher as I know the kids will love it but I loved it too.!!”

“Brilliant book. Bought for my grandson but I’m sure it will be shared around the family.
Great to find a book that is fun to read.

Although this book hasn’t got an overtly Christian message, at the heart is the image of God.  Over the years I have had to learn to live with my difficulties of a dodgy heart, and autism.  It’s not always easy!  It was one day I was really fed up with the way in which God had made me, and I clearly felt the Spirit say to me, “Don’t criticise anything I have created”.

The star of this book is Geoff, who hates his imagination, but in the end, he comes to love it because of the advantages rather than the disadvantages.  So he comes to terms, in effect, with how he has been created.

I have had teachers road testing this with pupils, and have written it in such a way that it is accessible as possible for many readers.  Plus my storytelling knowledge and experience from over the years.  Designed as a first chapter book for children after finishing a reading scheme, I have been surprised that it is reaching a much wider audience.  From being read to a 4 year old… to me reading to my own 13 year old son, and he is loving it!

Think Paddington Bear meets Mr Bean, and you’ll have the style.

And yes, the illustrations are a bit like Quentin Blake… it’s just the way I draw!
