A few weeks ago I was with some national evangelists and we got to talking about stuff, as you do, and someone mentioned that they felt that the imagery of Jesus as a lighthouse wasn’t really useful.
Now we know that at ports a lighthouse will show the entrance to the port, but when we talk about lighthouses in common language, it’s usual to assume they are protecting you from running aground on rocks. Keep away.
Not quite what was wanted, suggested this person. Jesus says come… not keep away
So I started thinking, and this image popped into my head.
The world over, fishermen paint their houses (and have done for years) bright colours so that when they are at sea they are able to see their homes. When they are in dangerous storms they can look back and see the safe harbour. And it’s like that with Jesus. He has gone ahead to prepare a place for us. He calls us home.
Anyway, it’s taken me a while to do this, but I have arranged to put the picture I painted (you can see it on this page) onto limited edition giclee print, and onto postcards.
You can find more details on the giclee here, and the postcards here. And if you would be interested in buying either, then shout me here, or on my facebook connections.
As well as the video on how I painted it (only 30 seconds long)
Or just go straight to the www.onegraydot.com website (my art home page)

I would like to order some safe harbour post cards Andy
